Remarks from Clubs

Any comments raised before the meeting were incorporated into the discussions.

We had been advised the Woking Youngers had decided to leave the WSFA and that it was anticipated the Eastcote Past Master would also be leaving. This remains to be confirmed.

There will remain 12 sides in the WSFA and it was proposed and agreed that we play each side home and away creating 22 games. This will mean a slight lengthening of the number of Saturdays reserved for WSFA games and no gaps.

The percentage method of creating a success rate was then questioned but it was decided to maintain this for the coming season.

However, the question of awarding points on cancellation of games was again raised. It was felt by a majority of those present that it was time to award points to a side who were prepared to play but whose opposition had cancelled.

The ambition of the WSFA was to play friendly hockey regularly throughout the season and this might help promote this.

It was therefore proposed that, if a club could not raise a side on a certain Saturday that an attempt should be made to re arrange the fixture at some future date. If however the club did not make this commitment before the Saturday when the original game should be played, their opposition would be awarded 3 points.

It was agreed by four clubs to one that the rules would be amended to take account of this change.

Web site – Thanks were expressed to George Oliver for his great work in maintaining the web site. It was suggested that clubs make more use of the site by using the contact details and links within the site and by adding comments to the results for publication on the site.

Please ensure and changes are passed to George. I will ask him to add his email address to the site.

Officers

We completely missed the voting of officers but it appears Tim Tennent agreed to continue on his role as Organiser and Peter Colwill as Chairman.

A vote of thanks was given to Tim and Peter for their work during the season.

There was no other business.

The meeting ended at 2000 hrs. Fixtures will be issued as soon a practicable.
