Welcome to season 2008/9

Polytechnic v Oxford Hawks

An exciting end to end game played in a great spirit. Could have been a much higher scoring game and gone either way. A great start to the season (apart from the result). Man of the match either the Hawks keeper, Richard Wilsdon or his left hand post!

Amersham & Chalfont v Epsom Vags

Much better weather than forecast so a good game was enjoyed by both. A&C took an early lead and it took some time for Epsom to equalise. A&C again took the lead after an Epsom defender deflected the ball into the net off his heal. But Epsom did not give up and again equalised and were settling for a draw when a generous 16 yard hit gave the ball to a forward to slot home. As usual good hospitality at Amersham’s club house.

Wokingham Vets v Oxted Vintage Moonshiners

A victory for Wokingham Vets. Alan Baines maintained his scoring form by doubling last week's two goals with four this week. Unfortunately, he had only returned from America that morning and had no Sterling to buy a jug !!! The highlight though (sorry Alan) was Wokingham’s fourth goal scored by right back Andy McCrudden, following a short corner. This was his first goal since joining the club, five years ago. I have yet to see a bigger grin this season.
